I used to shoot film. A LOT! Believe it or not, I shot film all the way until we moved to Colorado … which was only 6 years ago {light years in the photo industry}. I used to develop some of my own film or send it to the lab, and when it returned, I was like a kid on Christmas Morning. As long as I can remember, we had a Polaroid in our house. I admit. I have a very unhealthy addiction to Polaroid cameras. We won’t discuss why they stopped making the film or my longing for them to begin remaking it. I love how it creates instant gratification of the image you just took – or how no matter how modern the setting is, the photo still looks vintage. My parents have piles of photo albums from my childhood years. All of them contain a healthy dose of Polaroid images.

A few months ago I got the Fuji Instax Mini Camera. I have been having a blast with it – and literally have a few hundred of these awesome sized credit card images laying around. I am trying to devise a really awesome plan of what to do with them – but until then – it makes me feel like a kid again … and brings back the creativity of shooting with film. PINUP’S AND BOUDOIR: DENVER WORKSHOP

I was so excited when I was asked to teach boudoir studio lighting at the MHP Workshop. MHP is a fantastic organization of photographers in the Denver area. They put together a studio lighting workshop that ranged from Fashion, Kids, Seniors, and all the way to Boudoir. I arrived with butterflies in my stomach – ready to make my teaching debut. I had two of the best models in the world – and some fantastic groups that came through with very talented photographers who were eager to learn all things Boudoir! I’d lie if I said I was a brilliant public speaker. In fact, I used to get boo’ed in my public speaking class in High School because I made this clicking noise when I was nervous. It was just a tiny click – but I did it often (unconsciously – speaking to the group). I think I have banished that over the years. I didn’t hear myself make the click once Score! HOLLY + ROB, ENGAGED – COORS FIELD ENGAGEMENT SESSION, LODO

Every once in a while something EPIC happens. We get in our daily grind and sometimes forget just how generous some people are. This shoot turned EPIC when someone stepped up and was extra generous that day (Thanks Jason)!

Holly and Rob are friends of one of my fave brides and grooms of this year. I met them a few months back as they started to plan their wedding for next year. Holly is a PA, and Rob is a vet. I think if I had to choose to get sick, it would be in their house They are the sweetest, kindest, most laid back people, and I am sooooo excited for their awesome wedding next year in Western Colorado.

Holly and Rob are baseball fans, and Holly happens to love the area around Coors Field. Imagine this, I meet them, we begin to shoot (literally like 5 frames), and a very generous man comes to ask us if we would like a few minutes on the field. OMG. YES!!! We were so excited … I was literally jumping up and down, and Holly and Rob were totally stoked. Regardless, our shoot went from being AROUND Coors Field to being ON Coors Field. This promises to be one of my favorite-est shoots yet (and yes, when something this awesome happens, I reserve the right to make up my own words to describe it). Holly and Rob, enjoy these pictures. How awesome was that day!?

So, in closing, just remember that even the smallest things that we do on a daily basis, can have a HUGE impact on someone else’s day. It seems like more often than not, we get in our daily grinds and forget that there are awesomely kind people out there. Jason – thank you! This is not to be forgotten!
