Tiny babies make me happy. They make me smile. They warm my heart. After having a child myself, I can’t even begin to explain the joy that such a bundle brings to our lives. But to me – I love watching the excitement and the new love that you can capture between new parents and this journey they are experiencing. It is such an honor when my clients ask me to photograph their wedding day. I really do feel honored to capture their day and love through pictures. It’s a completely different honor when those same clients ask you to capture their newest addition to the family. I met Sonja and Rich in the Fall of 2007. I loved them instantly. They are fun, so in love, and had quite the love story for me to tell.

First – we told their engagement story (early 2008). It was a BLAST!

Then I got to capture their amazingly beautiful day at Our Lady of Loretto Chapel in Denver, and the amazingly gorgeous Columbine Country Club (Summer 2008)

Sonja and her sisters who I L-O-V-E , called me in 2009 to do a special shoot for their Mom (who I also adore) on Mother’s Day. I had so much fun with them (Spring 2009).

And imagine my serious excitement when I heard from Sonja in late 2009 to tell me they were expecting. Most recently – I got to capture an entirely different love story (Winter 2010)!

Sonja and Rich – thank you for trusting me with these special moments! You two make beautiful parents. You are an amazing family now! I LOVE LOVE LOVE working with you guys. Much Love – ME

JENNY + LEVIY, ENGAGED! GARDEN OF THE GODS

You may remember Jenny and Leviy as they are our 2010 contest winners. I have talked to Jenny over the past few months, but had yet to meet her, until their engagement session. I should note that I feel like I already know this incredible couple since I know their love story, and have truly enjoyed learning about them.

Jenny is kind, sweet, loving, and gorgeous. Leviy is funny, hilarious, and just awesome. Together, the two of them are absolutely amazing and a ton of fun! It was a frigid day as we walked around Garden of the Gods (which was packed) and then we headed for some more alleys and architecture digs. I had a blast with them {and their SUPER cute pups}.

A super fave series. Jenny and Leviy met at the gym, and love to work out. I had to incorporate that in to the shoot somewhere. I told Leviy to do push ups over Jenny!

Happy New Year everyone. I am so excited for 2010. Really. I hope everyone had an amazing time kissing 2009 goodbye. Today, I am cuddled up with some of my favorite stuff (editing), and I am getting ready to go to an engagement shoot this afternoon. SARAH + ANDREW, ENGAGED! DENVER RAILROAD ENGAGEMENT

When I first met Sarah, I saw how gorgeous she was. Are you kidding me with those amazing blue eyes? She boasted about her fiance, how awesome he was, and how much she missed him since he now lives out of state. Truth be told, I knew Sarah was amazing from the moment I met her. Then I met Andrew. Helllloooo, more blue eyes These two are awesomely amazing people, and when they are together, the world better watch out.

We had so much fun in the cold … and melting snow (yeah, I stepped in a puddle and sank up to my ankle in 30 degree weather, but my cold piggy’s said it was worth it, and they were right!) to capture their love. Sarah and Andrew, thanks for bringing the awesome. I have WAY too many favorites from this shoot. I am so happy for you and your upcoming wedding! Hugs – Karie!

HOLLY + ROB, ENGAGED – COORS FIELD ENGAGEMENT SESSION, LODO

Every once in a while something EPIC happens. We get in our daily grind and sometimes forget just how generous some people are. This shoot turned EPIC when someone stepped up and was extra generous that day (Thanks Jason)!

Holly and Rob are friends of one of my fave brides and grooms of this year. I met them a few months back as they started to plan their wedding for next year. Holly is a PA, and Rob is a vet. I think if I had to choose to get sick, it would be in their house They are the sweetest, kindest, most laid back people, and I am sooooo excited for their awesome wedding next year in Western Colorado.

Holly and Rob are baseball fans, and Holly happens to love the area around Coors Field. Imagine this, I meet them, we begin to shoot (literally like 5 frames), and a very generous man comes to ask us if we would like a few minutes on the field. OMG. YES!!! We were so excited … I was literally jumping up and down, and Holly and Rob were totally stoked. Regardless, our shoot went from being AROUND Coors Field to being ON Coors Field. This promises to be one of my favorite-est shoots yet (and yes, when something this awesome happens, I reserve the right to make up my own words to describe it). Holly and Rob, enjoy these pictures. How awesome was that day!?

So, in closing, just remember that even the smallest things that we do on a daily basis, can have a HUGE impact on someone else’s day. It seems like more often than not, we get in our daily grinds and forget that there are awesomely kind people out there. Jason – thank you! This is not to be forgotten!

NICOLE + GARIN, ENGAGED! LODO ENGAGEMENT SESSION

I have been talking to Nicole for what seems like forever now (really it’s been about a year). She and Garin live in Kansas City … which most of you know, is where I grew up before moving here 5 years ago. She told me about her and Garin, how they met, and about their amazing wedding day. I knew we were a match. Since, we have talked over email, and the phone, planning and organizing their big day. But, this was the first time I actually got to meet them in person! Let me just say … I am SO excited for their wedding this month. It’s such a small world … and come to find out, we knew a lot of the same places around Kansas City. It brings back some great memories The way Garin looks at Nicole is priceless. These two have a special kind of love. One I can’t wait to capture later this month on their wedding day. It’s going to be SUPER!

GRACE + JUAN, MARRIED! DENVER BOTANIC GARDENS AND CUBA CUBA

Grace and Juan have been SO awesome over the past year. When I met them, Grace said, I love your ‘outside of the box’ stuff … especially for weddings I LOVE to hear that. Since, we have just clicked. They are some of the sweetest, kindest, and most genuine people that I know Grace and Juan are both graphic designers, and they are from California. We tried really hard to get snow in their engagement session, but it wasn’t in the cards Their closest friends and family flew from California to see their ceremony (at the Denver Botanic Gardens). They shared an intimate dinner with everyone at the Cuba Cuba restaurant in Denver. It was a super cool place with amazing food!! Grace and Juan – you are awesome! Thanks for the fun … and my newest favorite picture to soon be hung in the studio … the dino!

ERIN + BILLY – ENGAGED, DENVER UNIVERSITY ENGAGEMENT

I met Erin last year and thought she was a total sweetheart. When we first spoke, she told me that school was a huge part of her life as she is getting her Master’s Degree. She told me all about her fiance Billy, but it wasn’t until this week that I finally got to meet him. I had SO much fun with these two. They met each other at DU while attending college and the rest is history. Erin and Billy, I am SO looking forward to your wedding this summer. Your laughs are contagious, and I had so much fun photographing you!

KATIE + NATE, ENGAGED – DENVER ENGAGEMENT SESSION

Katie and Nate have known each other for a long time. This couple is so seriously unique, and I am so blessed to have the opportunity to work with them. Katie, as you can see, is simply gorgeous … and Nate, you aren’t too bad yourself. When I met Katie and Nate last year to talk about their wedding and photography, they told me their engagement story. It is seriously probably the best one I have ever heard. Katie was vacationing with her parents in Italy, and Nate surprised her at a restaurant. He came out dressed as a waitor and asked her to marry him. She had no idea that he was even in that country. WOW! I seriously get chills every time I hear this story.

I had an amazing time telling a love story between these two … and their super cute dog Jackson. Nate is a teacher at East High School in Denver, so we started there, and made our way to City Park. Thank you both for sharing your stories and your love with me I can’t wait to shoot your wedding in Keystone this August!

I met Michelle and Nick a few months ago. These two are so seriously ridiculously cute and in love … it’s like I almost don’t exist And I am a hard one to miss when I am asking you to do a few things with a giant camera and lens in your face.
